Calculated Genius Announces the Appointment of Seven New Board Members

New board members bring unique perspectives to help advance the mission of Calculated Genius and increase community awareness of the organization

Chicago, Illinois. Calculated Genius announced today the appointment of seven new board members who will each support the organization’s mission of helping underrepresented youth explore and connect to the world of engineering, to inspire and support a brighter future. This appointment brings the total number of board members to nine. 

“I am thrilled to welcome such a strong group of new board members, and I look forward to working with each of them to help advance the organization,” said Kimberly Moore, Founder of Calculated Genius and Board Chair. 

“The new board members will join our Founder and Board Chair, Kimberly Moore, and Gabrielle Garcia, Board Secretary, in advocating for and empowering women and minorities in STEM,” said Kelley Francis, Executive Director of Calculated Genius. “I am energized by the phenomenal group of individuals that have committed to support our work in promoting the wonder and precision of engineering all around our young people in their everyday lives.”

The new board members began their three-year terms with Calculated Genius effective August 1, 2021 and can serve a maximum of two terms. The new board members are:

  • Mark Reiter, Principal of 5M Real Estate

  • Tasha McCarter, Vice President of Solar Engineering at RWE Renewables

  • William (Bill) Hanigan, Manager of Smart Grid Programs at ComEd

  • Gina Lipscomb, President & CEO of  RJ Lipscomb Engineering

  • Liana Bran, Director of Expansion Strategy at Cara Chicago

  • Neal Sullivan, Manager EY Consulting - Microsoft BizApps Team

  • Micae Brown, Founder and CEO of Micae Brown Sales Agency (MBSA)

Kimberly Moore added, “On behalf of the board, I want to express our gratitude to Brandi Bridges and Danielle Mullen, who have concluded their service as valued board members, for their leadership and support. We wish them both the best in future endeavors, and we look forward to calling on them as ‘Friends of the Board’.”

Calculated Genius is a non-profit organization based in Chicago, Illinois providing underrepresented youth with STEM enrichment programming, mentorship and career readiness support, as well as scholarships for females from the Chicagoland area pursuing engineering or computer science degrees in college.
